Dementia Adventure

The Dementia Adventure is a one day symposium organised by Dementia Advisors covering the Northern Sydney area. Three of the four dementia advisors in Northern Sydney work for Catholic Healthcare.

The symposium brings people together to explore the latest in dementia research findings, share good practice in dementia care, and aims to strengthen the connections between community support providers. Past attendees have been drawn not only from the Northern Sydney area, but also from the wider Sydney metropolitan area.

Now in its third year the symposium is part of Dementia Awareness Week activities funded by the Department of Ageing Disability and Homecare under the auspice of Alzheimer's Australia NSW.

The Dementia Adventure was the first symposium to be jointly organised by a group of Dementia Advisors in the Sydney metropolitan area. Since the resounding success of the first symposium in 2006, where approximately 200 people attended, other Dementia Advisory Services Co-ordinators have followed by example, and jointly organised their own regional symposiums.
