Sally is a 17 year old student who lives in a country town with a population of 5200. Sally lives with her mother, brother and family pet dog. She attends a local school and enjoys being with friends each day.
Sally cares for her mother who has been diagnosed with Depression and her older brother has Aspergers.
Sally's mother rang concerned that she would miss out on attending a school excursion a few months ago because their car needed some unforseen repairs. Her mother explained that part of the costs for the excursion had been paid but due to the repairs she was unable to afford the rest. The Young Carers Program was able to pay the difference and Sally attended the excursion with her fellow students.
In recent times Sally has attended Young Carer activities which have included laser tag, bowling and a 2 day camp for 13-18 yr olds. Sally is also attending a study group which has enabled her to complete her assignments without the distraction of her brother. Sometimes she requires additional assistance with her homework and requests extra study time with the tutor by herself.
Sally was the first one to put her name down for the Siblings group.
