Please Help us to Prevent Homelessness and Support People find New Homes! 

 

Did you know that in New South Wales every night there are 30,000 people living on the streets or staying temporarily with relatives and friends? 
28 % are lucky enough to find temporary accommodation or a place in a boarding house, while 19 % find a bed in the homeless service system.

 

Catholic Community Services ACHA program (Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged) needs donations to assist people who are homeless secure their own accommodation.  

 

To buy all the items necessary to fit out their new home costs more than $500 … 

 

You can help! 

 

The Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA) Program provides a range of services for financially disadvantaged older people to meet their accommodation and support needs so they can remain living independently in our community. 

 

The program is for people 55 years and over who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness and may be experiencing difficulty accessing appropriate and affordable housing and aged care support services. 

 

To help resettle clients experiencing homelessness requires significant outlay. Catholic Community Services will support 140 clients in this financial year alone.

 

To help fit out their new accommodation costs approximately $525 and finding this extra money can cause major stress as the majority of people experiencing homelessness are unemployed with minimum funds to assist them with their relocation.  

 

You can help by donating to funds to buy one or more items to help us prevent a person from becoming homeless.

Catholic Community Services Choir – The Ageless Angels

Did we have grants? –no! We started with $189.00 dollars, a donation from staff!

 

The community choir came together in March 2009 with one thing in common - a love of music. We range in age from early thirties to late eighties and we have come from across Catholic Community Services in the Metro North Sydney region.

We give our members increased opportunities to socialise and promote valued social roles for our clients and their families We encourage the learning (or re-learning) of musical skills and support our client group to be involved with their community.

We draw on their strengths, knowledge and expertise they no longer feel or know they have.

And of course, we have lots of fun!!

The choir runs 100% by donation – all money raised from your donations will go towards music and transport costs to practise sessions and performances.
