Support to Obtain Appropriate Accommodation
Supporting people to secure appropriate long term accommodation is an important step in breaking the cycle of homelessness.

We provide a variety of services that aim to meet the needs of individuals who are experiencing housing associated concerns; are currently, or are at risk of experiencing homelessness due to a variety of risk factors.

We recognise the importance of having a secure, safe and comfortable home; and work alongside individuals to ensure that those who are having difficulty accessing both accommodation and support are provided with the appropriate level of advocacy and assistance. In this, our services form a continuum of support that provides a pathway out of the experience of homelessness.

  • Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA): Coordinated and flexible support to secure accommodation and have support needs met.

  • 'Shared Accommodation' models that recognise that isolation is often a major factor to failed tenancy. Catholic Community Services in partnership with Churches Community Housing provides a 'Shared Experience House' for older women.

  • The provision of 10 transitional housing units that support individuals to gain life skills while awaiting allocation of public housing and prior to moving to more independent accommodation.

  • The 'My Place' initiative, a NSW Government funded program providing 60 inner city private rental leases managed by community housing providers to which Catholic Healthcare is a support partner.
