What is the aim of the program?

The Hoarding and Squalor program aims to assist people who live in poor living conditions including those who have hoarding tendencies and who may live in domestic squalor.

What service does the program provide?

The program provides comprehensive assessment, service coordination, advocacy/ referral and case management. Cleaning interventions may also form part of the comprehensive support and management plan for clients.

 

What is the program’s assessment and review process?

The program staff utilise a range of assessment tools to assist clients to develop a comprehensive support and management plan to address their living situation and other underlying issues. The staff  work in close collaboration with their clients to support them to achieve their goals

When does the program operate?

Monday-Friday 

What partnerships does the program have?

A key component to the program is its capacity to work collaboratively with a range of agencies to achieve the best outcome for clients. The program works closely with Housing NSW, Mental Health Services, Non Government Organisations, Disability Services and many others.

Program Fees

Funded program with no set fee. Clients may contribute to the cost of the service if they wish.

Referrals to the program can come from any source

How do you refer to the program?

Referrals are to be made through the Customer Service Centre on 1800 225 474

The focus of the service is to engage and work with clients to address their living situation through a range of interventions. The Hoarding and Squalor Service is neither a quick fix nor simply a cleaning service.

 

Referral Criteria:

Who is eligible?

HACC eligible

Adult Aged

Current history of Hoarding and/or Squalor

Who is not eligible?

Children and Young persons

Clients who do not have a hoarding and squalor problem

Clients who can fund their own cleaning and contracted services

Clients who need a one off cleaning service

Clients who already have services and support of Government and Non government agencies who can provide case management.

Is priority access given?

Where there is no other agency involved and a tenancy is at imminent risk, priority of access may be provided.
