Community Visitors Scheme

Service Description:
The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a national program that provides companionship to socially isolated people living in Australian Government funded aged care homes.

When a resident of an aged care home is identified as being suitable for having a Community Visitor the manager of the home gives the information about the resident to the local Scheme Coordinator. The Coordinator uses this information to match the resident with an
appropriate visitor, looking at things like background, interests, hobbies, like and dislikes, languages spoken and so on.

Area: Including South East Sydney, South West Sydney and Northern Sydney

Services Provided:
The Community Visitors Scheme arranges community volunteers to visit selected residents on a regular, one-to-one basis.

Referrals:  Call 1800 225 474 or complete the online referral form

Eligibility :
Any resident whose quality of life could be improved by the companionship of a regular community visitor can be referred to the Community Visitors Scheme by an aged care home.
